Bursitis

Bursitis is inflammation of bursa, small fat-pads between bones and tendons that prevent friction between bones and tissues during movement. Bursitis can be caused by chronic overuse or an injury. Common examples of bursitis are tennis elbow and frozen shoulder. Bursitis can be confused with tendonitis, but bursitis has a dull persistent pain often accompanied by fluid accumulation, whereas tendonitis has a sharp pain on movement.

Symptoms: pain, inflammation, tender to touch, redness, limited range of movement.

Who to consult: Acupuncturist, dietician, GP, herbalist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist.
