Fracture

A fracture is a break in bone, and if the overlying skin is also breached the fracture is termed open, or else the fracture is considered to be closed.

Symptoms: pain, swelling, tenderness, inability to bear weight, loss of a pulse below the fracture, numbness, tingling and paralysis below the fracture.

Who to consult: It is important to seek emergency care at a hospital if a person has a fractured bone. Other practitioners that may be of assistance in the healing process are: GP, herbalist, occupational therapist, osteopath, naturopath, psychologist, physiotherapist.
