Oedema

Oedema is the accumulation of fluid in soft tissues. Oedema can occur in any part of the body, including the face, arms, neck, legs, ankles and eyes (cornea). The underlying causes of oedema can be serious.

Cause: cirrhosis of the liver, congestive heart failure, diabetes, vena cava syndrome, infection, prolonged bed rest and allergies.

Who to consult: Cardiologist, dietician, GP, hepatologist, herbalist, homoeopath, naturopath, physiotherapist.
