Acupuncture is part of an integrated system of primary health care known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This form of medicine dates back thousands of years in China and other parts of East Asia, making it one of the oldest health care systems in the world!
In today's society acupuncture is an effective and natural form of health care that is fast becoming popular for prevention and the cure of illness and disease.
After completion of this course graduates generally enter clinical practice either alone or as a partner in a health care clinic. Other exciting career opportunities are available in education, community health care services settings, social welfare, sales, manufacturing, and health retreats.
Students are required to have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with sound assessments in English and Chemistry. Where a student has NOT completed Year 12 with a sound achievement in English and Chemistry at the required level, they will need to undertake the subjects Communication and Chemistry in their first semester of study.
This course requires the completion of all subjects listed below, plus two electives. In addition, students must complete or hold a current Senior First Aid certificate at the time of graduation or course completion.
