Sacrée Frangine
For Célia and Aline, the wildly talented duo behind Sacrée Frangine, illustration offers them the freedom to explore women and the world.

What do you both love the most about your work?

Our work is mainly guided by our inspirations, our experiences or our feelings. We both feel very lucky to create things that we love and in which we find ourselves every day. This freedom of creation allows us to explore the world and make the small details of everyday life exciting. Illustration offers us an infinite palette of topics and mediums to explore.

When and where was Sacrée Frangine born?

We grew up in Paris and have been friends since primary school. After our studies, we both worked as art directors in design agencies in Paris. Sacrée Frangine was born about three years ago, around a mint tea on a pink sofa, motivated by no specific idea but a strong desire to create together and work on projects more in tune with our personality.

Where do you find inspiration for your shapes and colour palettes?

We are obsessed with skin tones, from peach and nude tints to ebony hues. We create a lot of portraits and skin color is usually the starting point of our colour palette, primarily with soft and warm tones. People inspire us and especially women, but we find our inspiration in all the little details of daily life. We are constantly looking for harmony between shapes and colors.

How do you both live a wild and meaningful lives?

We both try our best to be open to the world and everyone we meet. We use art to share a moment, to transmit an emotion, to express a thought or an opinion. We think this is a real freedom and art is a powerful way to talk to people and convey messages and ideas but also to gather and appreciate.
