What are the WellBeing Pet Awards?

WellBeing’s new Pet media program – WellBeing PETS – is on the search for two new furry faces to represent their brand!

As part of our WellBeing PETS star search, we are inviting owners the opportunity to submit their pet for consideration to become the face of WellBeing PETS for 12 months, including the WellBeing PETS social media and newsletter channels, as well as the regular pet care column featured in WellBeing  magazine.

Who is behind the WellBeing Pet Awards?

This program is run by Universal Media Co (The promoter).  Universal Media Co is fundamentally a media business with significant pet care and wellness assets.  Our media brands provide a point of inspiration, connection, and idea-making for the communities around us.

Universal Media Co is the Trading Name of Universal Magazines Pty Ltd (ACN 003 026 944)

Eligibility for Nominees

Employees of Universal Media Co (WellBeing) are excluded from entering the competition.

Selection, Shortlisting and Acceptance of Terms

  • Nominators must include full contact details for themselves,
  • Nominees must agree to their nomination before an entry is completed,
  • Nominees must meet the entry criteria to be shortlisted as finalists,
  • Nominations and acceptances must be made online,
  • Nominees may be contacted by WellBeing Media Group to request additional information including photo and biography. Some Nominees will be selected for storytelling to inspire other nominations. A condition of entry is agreement to have both the identifying name provided with the entry, and images published in this context.
  • Nominations become property of Universal Media Co.
  • Finalists will have their forms passed to the judging committee.
  • Entry is deemed acceptance of the Terms and Conditions by the Nominator. Acceptance of Nomination is deemed acceptance of the Terms and Conditions by the Nominee.
  • The judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be
    entered into.

Basic Entry Criteria

Entry is free

Entry is open to pets based in Australia – with two ‘face’ winners to be chosen including one cat winner and one dog winner. At this particular time there are no other animals to be considered as ‘face’ winners of the major prize for this competition.

The closing date for entries is 26 July 2024. The publisher reserves the right to modify this date at their discretion.

Entries must be submitted via the online form located at https://wellbeing.com.au/petawards only. There is no guarantee that an entry submitted via another method will be received or considered valid.

Entry submissions must be made by humans aged 18 or above.

There are no age restrictions on pets entering the award provided the criteria outlined in section ‘Entry Requirements’ have been met.

Entry Requirements

 

To enter, a pet owner needs to submit their pet for consideration with an entry that includes:

  • A picture of (their) pet showcasing the pet’s unique personality. It is preferred that this is good quality and print ready i.e. 300dpi or above and in JPG format. If your images are not of high quality you could be asked to resubmit them.
  • 25 words or less explaining how (their) pet contributes to (their) wellbeing.

By submitting an entry, entrants are confirming:

  1. That they are bound by these general terms and conditions and entry criteria for this competition
  2. That all information has been submitted accurately
  3. That all information has been submitted with the necessary authority and consent to share information of those involved
  4. That all the necessary copyrights and permissions have been obtained with regard to shared imagery or photos submitted, and that it is permissible for these to be showcased in media which includes but is not limited to WellBeing and WellBeing PETS plus associated digital and social media.
  5. A willingness to receive informational emails from the Promoter and their Sponsors

Assessment Criteria & Selection of any Finalists and Winners

Entries will be assessed by a panel of judges or representatives of the Promoter based on a submission that reflects:

  1. A pet’s unique personality as showcased by the image provided
  2. A short description reflecting a meaningful contribution to wellbeing by a pet

Media Coverage

Media coverage of The WellBeing Pet Awards includes (but is not limited to) Wellbeing Magazine, WellBeing PETS and associated social media channels.

Editorial comment on and photographic display of the projects entered will be at the discretion of the media. Whilst it is the aim of Universal Media Co and WellBeing Magazine to feature the work of entrants accurately, the Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality, suitability or merchantability of goods and services offered. To the extent permitted by law, the promoter is not liable for any loss suffered to person, business, entity or property by reason of any actor omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promotor, its employees, or agents in connection with the arrangement for the supply of services.  Whilst the promoter will make its best effort to feature the work of entrants accurately, the promotor including WellBeing Magazine and James Phillip Design are not liable for any discrepancy, error, omission or misrepresentation of that participant or entry in any media report.

Universal Media Co will also be promoting pre, during & post awards, on all of our social media channels.

Universal Media Co shall promote the entire program to other media, seeking coverage. Whilst it is the aim of Universal Media Co to feature the work of entrants accurately, there will be no responsibility taken for discrepancy, error, omission or misrepresentation of that entry in any media report.

Privacy

Judges Decision

The judges shall include but not be limited to employees of Universal Media Co.

The judges’ decision is final and binding. If in the opinion of the judges the entries do not reach the quality standard for the competition, the judges, and Universal Media Co, in their discretion may decide not to grant all finalist positions. There will only be two (2) winners and three (3) runners up.

The nominator, finalists and the winner will be notified by email.

Awards

While prizes and awards will be distributed to winners, there is no award party or award ceremony planned for this campaign at the time of developing it.

Prize Schematic

There will be 5 prizes for this competition – 2 winners and 3 runner-up prizes. The total prize pool across all prizes is $7885.

These consist of:

  1. “Furry face” winner – Become the furry face of WellBeing, 1 x $500 KONG Prize Pack, 1 x $500 Nutrimate Pet Foods Prize Pack, 1 x $100 Paper Pocket Prize Pack, 1 x $777 Groke Pet Prize Pack

Competition Prizes

The “Furry Face” prize is awarded to one dog and one cat and entails:

  • Inclusion of pet headshot as supplied on Pet column in WellBeing magazine for 12 months
  • Inclusion of pet headshots as supplied on Pet social pages main banner for 12 months
  • Inclusion of pet headshots as supplied on main eNews banner of WellBeing PETS for 12 months

The “KONG prize pack” consists of an assortment of KONG toys for either a dog or cat to the specified value outlined in the Prize Schematic. The total value across all prize packs is $1000.

The “Nutrimate Pet Foods Prize Pack” consists of an assortment of Nutrimate Pet Foods to the value of $500 per prize bundle, and is redeemable via supermarket collection in an available state and territory where Nutrimate Pet Foods are distributed. The total value across all prize packs is $2500.

The “GrokePet Wellness Bundle” consists of 5 x $147 Starter Kit Prebiotic and 5 x $126 Refill Packs with Vitalixir Plus (Prebiotic) to the value of $777 per prize bundle. The total value across all prize packs is $3885.

The “Paper Pocket Stationery Gift Set” consists of 5 animal calendars and/or diaries to the total value of $100 per prize winner, with the exact composition to be negotiated between the winner and Paper Pocket. The total value across all prize packs is $500.

Prize Eligibility

Applicants from ACT are excluded from prize eligibility by local law.

Awarding of Prizes

  • The winner and runner ups will be contacted by UMCO, via phone / email within 2 business days of the prize draw.
  • All Major Prizes must be claimed within a 1-month period of the winners being announced.
  • Prizes are to be received by winners in the form outlined by the Promoter and are not inclusive of any travel or additional expenses required by the winner to claim or make use of prize. Prizes are non-transferrable, are not to be substituted at request of the winner and are not redeemable for cash or credit of any kind.
  • The entrant acknowledges and agrees that if the Prize or Promotion Prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize supplied by WelBeing of equal value, subject to State and Territory legislation.
  • An unclaimed Prize judging, for the major prize packs and runner prizes will occur 1 month after the initial draw at the same location as the original draw. The winner will be contacted via phone / email within 2 business days of the draw.

General Terms and Conditions

  • The Competition is a Game Of Skill.
  • The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter’s discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  • If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
  • In the event of war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster, the (a) Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion or suspend or modify a prize. (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
  • Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clause, if for any reason a winner does not take a prize (or an element of the prize), then the prize (or that element of the prize) will be forfeited.
  • If any prize (or part of any prize) is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
  • Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.
  • If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
  • Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia and New Zealand (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.
  • Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant.
  • As a condition of accepting a prize, the winner(s) must sign any legal documentation as and in the form required by the Promoter and/or prize suppliers in their absolute discretion, including but not limited to a legal release.
  • The laws of Australia apply to this promotion to the exclusion of any other law.  Entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
