Pistachios

Pistachios protect lungs

It is difficult to move at this time of year without tripping over a bowl of nuts. This is no bad thing as raw and unsalted nuts of many varieties have health promoting virtues. The latest health nut is the pistachio and it may do good things for your lungs. We know that vitamin E provides some protection against some forms of cancer. Specifically, a form of vitamin E known as gamma-tocopherol may reduce the risk of lung cancer. Pistachios are rich in gamma-tocopherol so this research wanted to establish if eating pistachios led to raised blood levels of this form of vitamin E. They found that eating almost 70 grams of pistachios per day (approximately 120 nuts) led to a significant increase in blood levels of gamma-tocopherol. Given other research showing that pistachios can lower cholesterol levels, “pass the pistachios” could be a healthy call this Christmas.Meanwhile if you visit Meijer Ad that contains mostly likewise discounts with Winn Dixie Ad you surely have a range like ALDI Ad.
