To ‘B’ or not to ‘B’

Today I am 8 months down my treatment path and have I discovered just how potent Amygdalin (B17 , nitriloside) can be in the excess.   For those who may not know, although not officially listed as a vitamin, Amygdalin is a potent source of Vitamin B17. The compound contains very similar properties to the other B vitamins.

As I began this blog, my plan was to elaborate on the vitamin therapy I used in the initial phase of my treatment. As I was typing I was munching away on Apricot kernels (B17).  For healthy person, 4-6 kernels a day is plenty. For a person with cancer, the intake can be as high as 40 during a day. My current use is around 30 kernels per day.

I was not paying attention and forgot how many I had consumed. It must have been nearly 20 in one dose.   Within minutes I felt my face hot and red. I was dizzy, my heart was racing and even my face was swollen.  Immediately I took myself off to use the Ion foot soak to help draw the toxicity from my body and am feeling much better now!

I did use the Amygdalin (B17) in intravenous form along with Vitamin C and Zinc.   These appointments were every second day and for forty five minutes I sat with a book in hand or spoke with some other patients around me about our cancer experiences.

Each dose always left an aftertaste in my mouth like marzipan. It reminded me of the icing that mum used to put on the Christmas cake. This was a painless experience and in fact I quite looked forward to these treatments.

After the initial 9 treatments which were every second day concluded, I then attended once a week for the following 7 weeks.   During this process the swelling of the lump subsided noticeably and I could feel a sensation of something pushing out through the lymph glands.  I included several detoxing processes throughout the treatment including some initial colonic treatments, regular massage and liver cleanses.

A subsequent ultrasound showed the lump minus nearly all of the white nasty cancer spots that were evident at the diagnosis scan.  They were completely gone from the lymph node.  I felt excited.

The jury is still out on B17 or is it ?

Amygdalin or B17 in the form of Apricot Kernels or Laetrile the US patented semi synthetic version is a controversial topic.   Like many alternative treatments there is a “for” and “against” argument.   B17 or Laetrile is not currently approved by the FDA (US) or TGA (Aust) and there is a process of application required before it can be purchased for use.

  • G. Edward Griffin an author and documentary producer published World Without Cancer in 1974 in which much of the research and controversy is highlighted surrounding Amygdalin. Watch an shows an interview with GE Griffin author of Laetrile book World without Cancer here
  • Dr Ralph Moss worked for Memorial Sloane -Kettering Cancer Centre in New York from 1977 where they conducted trials using B17.  Dr Moss resigned his post and published several books on alternative cancer treatments. Moss’s later work includes award winning PBS documentary War on Cancer. His website below is quite insightful.  www.cancerdecisions.com
  • Professor Dean Burk a biochemist and head of Cytology at the American Cancer Institute in the late 1930s also published work on Laetrile.
  • Phillip Day who recently toured Australia published a very interesting book, Cancer: Why we’re still dying to know the truth.

Amygdalin, B17 or Laetrile will not cure cancer on its own. A strict eating regime along with other vitamin and mineral supplementation is essential – as with any cancer treatment conventional or alternative medicine.

A recommended protocol for the application of B17 -Laetrile and diet can be found in chapter 11 of Philip Binzel’s book Alive and Well. A download version of this can be obtained from www.b17.com.au

Amygdalin, as the compound is known, dates back to the mid 1800s when used in Russia to treat cancer then in the 1920s in the United States.   In 1952 Dr Ernst Krebb Jr., a biochemist who viewed cancer as a metabolic reaction found this compound in over 1400 food sources –  Apricot kernels containing the highest levels.

Foods such as strawberries, cashews, all contain the Amygdalin compound. Also found in fruit seeds such as the apple, peach, cherry, orange and nectarine. It is found in some beans such as Lima and many grasses such as Wheat grass.

There are four compounds, two glucose molecules, benzaldehyde and the most talked about one is cyanide. Many of the foods listed above and more contain cyanide.  A normal cell contains the enzyme Rhodanese which renders the cyanide neutral and can be passed out through urine.

Cancer cells are not normal.  They contain an enzyme beta-glucosidase. This enzyme, virtually exclusive to cancer cells, is considered the “unlocking enzyme” for amygdalin molecules. It releases both the benzaldyhide and the cyanide. This is what the cancer cell’s beta-glucosidase enzyme does to self-destruct cancer cells.

I have included several references and will reiterate the necessity for anyone looking at their options regarding cancer treatment to conduct thorough research before embarking on any protocol.

I have used this treatment without the intervention of chemotherapy, surgery or radiation.  There are discussions I have found that raise concerns as to its effectiveness when used post conventional treatments.

I am researching this further at the moment and cannot comment on from personal experience as I have not used any conventional cancer treatment methods.

My intention for this blog is to present information based on my own experience and research.  I value my life greatly and would not undertake any treatment without fully researching and understanding as I hope most others would do in similar circumstance.

My own philosophy that I have applied while treating this cancer is that it came from within and therefore it can be eliminated from within.

Taking responsibility for one’s own treatment is just that, a big responsibility.

I can be reached via email at helen@kapaipuku.com if there are questions relating to my treatment protocol.
