The Energy of Colour

Colour.

It is a part of every single thing we see and cannot see.

The light or sun is made of colour.

Even the dark is made of colour.

When we shut our eyes, the light frequencies or wavelengths of every colour are still swirling around us.

And colour has become big business, with claims that colour therapies can heal.

Whether we use coloured stones and crystals as part of a ritual, take coloured tonics or receive science-based colour laser-light acupuncture, it is undeniable that colour has an effect on humans.

When we shut our eyes, the light frequencies or wavelengths of every colour are still swirling around us.

In The Crystal Healing Bible, Sue Lilly describes how the wavelengths of light Travel through the lattice structure of a crystal. “Quartz, for example, allows rays of light to pass through almost unchanged, although it does slow down fractionally,” she writes. “Other crystals split light into different beams, creating a polarising effect.”

She explains the behaviour of light passing through a crystal lattice produces the colours we see. “With transparent or translucent crystals, the resulting intense colouration introduces a very particular energy into the environment, whether into a room or into a person’s energy field or aura.”

In this way, we can begin to understand why we are drawn to particular colours and dislike others.

We have all had experiences of entering a room and feeling depressed by the colouring or intensely disliking wearing a colour of clothing. So, too, experiences where we absolutely love how we feel inside someone’s home or are quickly drawn to clothes on a rack because of their colours.

Most importantly, we also tend to be drawn to the beautiful colours of nature based on how they energise us. Whether we love the greens of trees and the grass, or prefer how the light changes the blues and aquamarines of the ocean or sky.

We also associate certain colours with comfort, like the gentle hues of brown we adore in cattle, horses, puppies and purring cats.

Have you ever wondered why you are drawn to certain colours and not to others?

Do you notice how they may affect you?

Do you discern between bottle green, olive green, turquoise green and moss green?

And do you enjoy every type of sunset no matter what the colours?

Warmest,
Renee
