Ginger-Turmeric Elixir

This powerful elixir combines ginger and turmeric, two anti-inflammatory power houses, with honey and lemon for a soothing, energising drink.

Ingredients

  • 2cm fresh ginger, peeled & sliced
  • 2cm fresh turmeric root, peeled & sliced (or 1 tsp turmeric powder)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Juice 1 lemon

Method


  • In a small saucepan, combine the ginger, turmeric and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 mins.
  • Strain the liquid into a cup, discarding the solids.
  • Stir in honey and lemon juice.
  • Drink warm for a comforting, anti-inflammatory boost.
  • Or, allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1–2 hrs until chilled.
