This pulled pork is one of my go-to busy-day recipes. It cooks in the slow cooker with minimal effort; it’s super versatile and legit delicious.

Ingredients

  • 400g tomato passata
  • ½ cup beef stock
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup apple-cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • ½ tsp liquid smoke (optional)
  • 2kg pork shoulder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper

Method


  • Place the sauce ingredients into a saucepan and bring to the boil.
  • Lower the heat and simmer for 30 mins until the sauce reduces by half.
  • Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper and place it in the slow cooker.
  • Pour 1 cup of sauce over it.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 6 hours.
  • Use 2 forks to shred the pork and mix the sauce through it
  • If you want to add extra sauce, just drizzle it over and mix it through.
  • Serve in buns with fresh coleslaw.
  • Note: The leftover sauce can be stored in a jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
