Parkinson’s disease and your health

Doctors and natural practitioners work hand in hand to alleviate Parkinsons and increase your healthOn 23 April 2007 it was announced that a simple blood test measuring protein levels could diagnose Parkinson’s disease before symptoms appear. This was developed by The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health in Victoria.

There is a genetic test which screens for different types of the disease, monitors treatment and measures how effective drugs are that are used to treat the disease.

It was discovered that people with Parkinson’s disease had low levels of the brain protein alpha synuclein in the blood and people without Parkinson’s had high levels.

These tests were performed by Dr Qiao-Xin Li and colleagues at the University of Melbourne with Professor Malcolm Horne from the The Florey Institute.

Professor Horne noted that back when the test was discovered there were no specific tests for Parkinson’s, so diagnosis relied on observation. This meant patients were not always getting the most suitable medication or the disease could be missed.

Further studies at the time were needed to find out the differences between people who responded to the test and those who didn’t, as well as whether the test could measure how fast the disease progressed. Such a test will help us understand the different forms of Parkinson’s and help work towards ways to prevent it.

There are many countries around the world doing research with Parkinson’s disease to discover ways of early detection. The results will mean that doctors will be more certain as to the type of Parkinson’s one has, and better drugs will be developed to treat the disease.

Meanwhile, natural ways to treat Parkinson’s assist in delaying the progression of the disease. I need to say though that the disease can be virulent at the speed it progresses, so it is important to work with your doctor and natural practitioner at the same time to increase your level of health. Remember also that natural healing is slower than your doctor’s drugs, so if the illness is getting out of hand also assess the drugs your doctor is recommending and follow his advice. Remember, both of these people are looking to improve your health in the ways they know best according to their training, and they do have your best interests at heart.

Regarding your natural healing and nutrition it is important to have an organic diet with lots of raw foods such as seeds, nuts, grains, sprouts, raw milk, especially goat’s milk, fruits and vegetables. Also eat lots of green leafy vegetables, yellow turnips, sesame seeds and remain on a low protein diet.

Supplements that can be helpful to your Health in this disease are Vitamin B6, Magnesium, B2, B complex, Glutamic acid, Calcium lactate, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Lecithin, Ginseng, Damiana and Cayenne. However, you need to remember not to just take these for the sake of taking something that is meant to be good for you. Your natural practitioner is the best person to decide which of these to take and in what dosage. You do not necessarily need to take them all and it is wise to be selective according to your other health issues and needs.

It must be remembered that Parkinson’s disease can have an emotional cause and this needs to be looked at during treatment. Once the emotional issues are handled and the underlying energetic pattern broken the possibility of abating the disease is much greater and your health will improve and stabilise.
