Eyes – bloodshot eyes

Eyes take on a bloodshot appearance when blood vessels on the surface of the eye are inflamed and congested in response to insufficient oxygen supply to the cornea.

Causes: eye strain, fatigue, poor diet, excessive alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, fragility of capillaries, blood clot, deficiency in Vitamin B2 or B6 or amino acids.

Who to consult: Dietician, GP, herbalist, naturopath, optician, optometrist, ophthalmologist.
