Whisky Apple Crumble Skillet

Something sweet for late-night laughs around the campfire and also doubles as breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 apples, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 40mL whisky
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup oats

Method


  • Over a medium heat, add 1 tbsp of butter, apples and sugar to a medium skillet and cook for 5 mins or until the apples have softened.
  • Add in whisky, 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1 tsp of vanilla extract, stir to combine and continue to cook for another 5 mins until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat. (Remember to use heatproof gloves as the handle will be hot.)
  • In a small bowl, combine oats with the remaining vanilla extract, butter and cinnamon and sprinkle over the apples.
  • Cover with foil and place back on the heat for 15 mins or until the top is crunchy and golden brown.
  • Serve with ice cream.
  • Tip: Try adding a handful of strawberries (in lieu of one apple) to add some extra sweetness and colour.
