Safely using turmeric
Try this recipe for turmeric tummy gummies: a delicious, anti-inflammatory treat that supports gut health and soothes inflammation.
If you’re looking for a gentle, tasty way to calm your tummy and support overall digestive wellness, these Turmeric Tummy Gummies are a must-try. With vibrant and exotic turmeric as the star, you get far more than just its sunny hue; this spice supports antioxidant defences, helps the body manage inflammation, and can even play a supporting role in weight maintenance.
Ginger, turmeric’s close botanical cousin, also joins in the mix, bringing its own ability to help ease discomfort, quiet inflammation and boost your body’s natural defences. You’ll often find me adding both to meals, drinks and tonics. I find that either ingredient can settle queasiness and help curb hunger naturally, and many of my clients are looking for simple spices that they can add to meals to do this.
Making these gummies couldn’t be easier. A swipe of black pepper is included to unlock turmeric’s full benefits, thanks to how it helps your body absorb more curcumin. Raw honey softens out the edges, balancing any pepper or earthy bitterness. If your taste leans sweeter, a drizzle of your favourite natural sweetener works beautifully — I generally use raw honey.
These gummies are a real crowd-pleaser for all ages. Kids love the fun shapes and the gentle, sweet flavour, which makes taking something healthy feel like a treat rather than a chore. Adults appreciate that these gummies are easy to have on hand.
For the health enthusiast, that means there is no swallowing gigantic capsules or fiddling around with powders, plus the combination of comforting, familiar spices means they fit right into family routines.
Simple to make, satisfying to eat and suitable for nearly everyone, these gummies turn daily wellness into a little moment of joy.
Turmeric Tummy Gummies
Makes: 12 gummies approx.
Supercharged tip: Pour your liquid mixture into fun-shaped moulds for extra whimsy.
1/4 cup warm filtered water
2 tbsp grass-fed gelatine powder
250mL coconut milk
1 tbsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground ginger
A few cracks of black pepper
3 tbsp raw honey, to taste
Pour the warm filtered water into a mixing bowl and evenly sprinkle the gelatine on top. Set aside for a few minutes so it forms a gel (“blooms”).
In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, turmeric, ginger, black pepper and honey. Warm gently, but don’t let it boil, while whisking until thoroughly blended.
Gradually pour the spiced coconut mixture into your bloomed gelatine, whisking as you go to banish lumps.
Strain the liquid if you’d like a super-smooth finish, then pour into silicone moulds or a lined pan.
Pop the tray in the fridge for around 3 hours, or until set and jiggly-firm. If using a dish, slice into cubes once firm.
Store gummies in an airtight container in the fridge. They are best eaten within 1 week.
Enjoy these Turmeric Tummy Gummies as a daily treat for a happy, soothed gut and a burst of gentle spice.
